The 40 new half-lives follow robust systematics and highlight the persistence of shell effects. The new data have direct implications for r-process calculations and reinforce the notion that the second (A\u2248130) and the rare-earth-element (A\u2248160) abundance peaks may result from the freeze-out of an (n,\u03b3)\u21c4(\u03b3,n) equilibrium. In such an equilibrium, the new half-lives are important factors determining the abundance of rare-earth elements, and allow for a more reliable discussion of the r process universality. It is anticipated that universality may not extend to the elements Sn, Sb, I, and Cs, making the detection of these elements in metal-poor stars of the utmost importance to determine the exact conditions of individual r-process events.</p>", "doi": "10.15161/oar.it/75850", "keywords": [ "AAM", "20152019VQR" ], "language": "eng", "license": { "id": "CC-BY-4.0" }, "publication_date": "2015-05-11", "related_identifiers": [ { "identifier": "10.1103/PhysRevLett.114.192501", "relation": "compiles", "scheme": "doi" }, { "identifier": "10.15161/oar.it/75849", "relation": "isVersionOf", "scheme": "doi" } ], "relations": { "version": [ { "count": 1, "index": 0, "is_last": true, "last_child": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "75850" }, "parent": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "75849" } } ] }, "resource_type": { "subtype": "preprint", "title": "Preprint", "type": "publication" }, "title": "\u03b2-Decay Half-Lives of 110 Neutron-Rich Nuclei across the N = 82 Shell Gap: Implications for the Mechanism and Universality of the Astrophysical r Process" }, "owners": [ 157 ], "revision": 2, "stats": { "downloads": 26.0, "unique_downloads": 24.0, "unique_views": 12.0, "version_downloads": 26.0, "version_unique_downloads": 24.0, "version_unique_views": 12.0, "version_views": 15.0, "version_volume": 42499678.0, "views": 15.0, "volume": 42499678.0 }, "updated": "2022-05-18T13:07:12.506616+00:00" }
