Amongst the identified molecules/radicals, a large percentage are organic in nature and encompass also prebiotic molecules. Different types of microscopic processes are believed to be involved in their formation, including surface processes, ion- and radical- molecule reactions. A thorough characterization of such a complex chemistry relies on a multi-disciplinary approach, where the observations are complemented by accurate chemical modeling. Unfortunately, a literature survey reveals that only a small percentage of the elementary reactions considered in the available models have been characterized in laboratory experiments. In this contribution, a brief overview will be given of recent experimental techniques that have allowed us to reach a better description of neutral-neutral gas-phase reactions, which might be responsible for the formation of simple prebiotic molecules.", "doi": "10.1017/s1743921310010938", "keywords": [ "Astronomy and Astrophysics", "Space and Planetary Science" ], "language": "eng", "license": { "id": "other-open" }, "publication_date": "2010-10-21", "relations": { "version": [ { "count": 1, "index": 0, "is_last": true, "last_child": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "161516" }, "parent": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "161515" } } ] }, "resource_type": { "subtype": "article", "title": "Journal article", "type": "publication" }, "title": "Gas-phase prebiotic chemistry in extraterrestrial environments" }, "owners": [ 14 ], "revision": 1, "stats": { "downloads": 0.0, "unique_downloads": 0.0, "unique_views": 0.0, "version_downloads": 0.0, "version_unique_downloads": 0.0, "version_unique_views": 0.0, "version_views": 0.0, "version_volume": 0.0, "views": 0.0, "volume": 0.0 }, "updated": "2024-04-12T17:27:01.969310+00:00" }
